Children’s Yoga in schools

Yoga and mindfulness can transform children's experience of school. At Children's Yoga Tree we believe every school should have a yoga teacher and provide bespoke training courses for teachers to make yoga accessible to every child. Children’s Yoga Tree founders Emma and Siobhan have been working with schools in the Uk for over ten years and are able to provide a mixture of online and in-person training days for teachers depending on the location. These cover:

  • Yoga Training Days for Teachers and Support Staff:

  • Teen Leader Training: Tailored training for 6 form students to become Yoga Leaders in secondary schools

  • Training in Yoga Interventions for Sencos, Teachers and Teaching Assistants

Emma and Siobhan also provide small group and individual therapeutic classes for children with special needs in Brighton, Uk and Johannesburg, South Africa.

Yoga focuses on the individual physical development of the child and practicing from an early age gives children a toolkit for life in order to cope with the fast paced, achievement based society we live in. Classes provide a non-competitive environment for children to grow in confidence and self-esteem. Yoga supports children’s learning and well-being in the following ways:

  • Breathing exercises develop concentration and help the child to feel calm

  • Flexibility, strength and balance create healthy body awareness and reduce sports related injury

  • Nature based poses create a connection and understanding of the natural world

  • Mindfulness helps the child to self regulate their emotions and become confident and resilient
