A unique course that focuses on inspiring creativity, confidence and calm in teenagers. Combining the best of interactive online learning with the opportunity to observe and practice teaching Teen classes in person.

Course tutors Emma and Siobhan are an international team that have over ten years experience of teaching in schools, and are passionately committed to delivering inclusive classes that support teen mental and physical health.

Time Commitment

  • Live Online Intensive

  • Weekly live online Tutor meetings Tuesdays 6pm - 7.30pm

  • 12 hours of video content via our Online Learning Platform over 3 months

  • One hour per week of reading and assignments

Module Breakdown

Module 1: Physical Yoga

This module looks at developmental changes in teenagers and the environmental impact on their posture and physicality including the physical affect of stress, It also focuses on how to use yoga asana to support positive body awareness. Our approach combines the release of physical tension through Restorative Yoga with development of strength and balance to encourage encourage confidence in their bodies. This covers:

  • Anatomy of the Teenage Body

  • Physiological benefits of Yoga for Teenagers

  • Yoga Poses for Teens

  • Restorative Yoga

Module 2: Mindful Yoga

In Mindful Yoga we explore the dramatic neurological changes in teenage brains and how this can affect behaviour, values and mental health. You will learn how to teach accessible meditation, breath work and Yoga Nidra to Teens and their benefits for brain development. We will also take a deep dive into ancient Yoga Philosophy, including Patanjali’s Eight Limbs and the Chakra system and how this can be applied in Teen classes to support mental health. This module covers:

  • Yoga and the Teenage Brain

  • Neurological Benefits of Yoga for Teenagers

  • Meditation

  • Breath Work

  • Yoga Nidra

  • Applied Yoga Philosophy and Teenage Mental Health


Module 3: The Art of Teaching Teens

In this module you will discover your most creative, calm, mindful and confident self and how to model these qualities for Teens. You will learn how to promote playful creativity in your classes while maintaining discipline - creating a safe space for Teens to develop emotionally through yoga. We will also explore the challenges and opportunities of teaching in schools and how to plan and structure yoga classes for Teens based on our unique 7 Chakra Class Programme.

Module 4: Inclusivity

Creating an inclusive community in your classes in an essential part of teaching Teens. In this module we explore how to promote and support inclusivity through your language and actions as a teacher, in particular looking at marginalised, vulnerable and hard to reach groups. You will learn how to use yoga to celebrate and support diversity in your teenage yoga community so that your classes are accessible and accessed by all.
